Alex Gow helps in the community

Alex Gow services the community in many different ways. Apart from our traditional funeral and cremation services, the business also provides many free activities to assist seniors. These include:

• End of Life Planning
• Grief & Bereavement Support
• Family Support
• Event sponsorship
• Art workshops, and
• Community Education

These programmes are run by our own wonderful staff, including Mark Lowry our Community Educator.  Mark’s services are called upon most days of the week with visits to nursing homes and retirement villages.  He delivers expert and professional presentations to residents and staff alike on a number of important issues that can affect their daily lives.  He also runs art classes for residents that are enjoyed by all. Mark’s professionalism and passion was praised recently by a Retirement Village care manager as below.

“This morning, Mark Lowry visited our Village to present AN INTRODUCTION TO DEMENTIA.  We have been searching for someone to visit the Village for some time to discuss Dementia and it was very fortunate, and timely, that we received Mark’s pamphlet in the mail.

How grateful we are for Mark’s visit this morning!  Mark was highly professional throughout and was considerate, kind and compassionate towards our residents.  Approximately 60 residents attended this presentation (a great attendance!) and the positive feedback has been overwhelming.  Mark’s presentation was extremely interesting and in a format that held the resident’s interest throughout.  They commented that this was the information that they desperately needed, with one of our long-term residents stating that it was the best presentation he had ever heard!   Personally, I’m so pleased that Mark spoke about carer’s needs and emotions which is very relevant to a number of our residents caring for their spouses.
